2 Hours and 22 Dollars

Aaron and I have a beautiful brown microfiber/suedeish type couch in our living room that we got a smoking deal on from Mor furniture when we got married. We love it! We just wish it was bigger.

We have been keeping our eyes open for other seating we could put in our living room with the couch. It's the nicest room in the house but we never use it because there is nowhere for company to sit unless we drag in our uncomfortable kitchen chairs.

Yesterday, I found a fabulous couch on Craigslist. The guy was asking $300 for a newer couch that was made of the same fabric, looked like the same color, and was even from the same store as our beloved couch! We were pretty sure it was fate. The only problem was that it was in Avondale, approximately 40 minutes away.

We contacted the guy and made arrangements to go see the couch at 7:30 last night with the unspoken understanding that we would more than likely be taking it. After work we scrambled to find a truck we could use to carry the couch. It had a chaise, which makes transporting a little more difficult.

Eventually, we were able to borrow my dad's business partner's Chevy Avalance and we headed to Avondale. Aaron called and left a message for the guy telling him we were running a little late but we were on our way. I ALMOST said, "Hey, if we can't get a hold of him, we shouldn't go." But I didn't.

We drove the 40 minutes to the address he provided us only to discover that it was a large, gated apartment community. The call box wasn't working and he wasn't answering his phone. We followed someone in and continued trying to call the guy. We had my dad look up the e-mail to see if the seller had given us an apartment number that just didn't get written down. He hadn't. Finally after hanging out and calling the guy for 30 minutes, the guy's voicemail message changed to say the couch had been sold.

It goes without saying that we were pretty upset. Bad words were spoken. A message was left. Names were called.

So, we drove the 40 minutes home and stopped at a gas station to replenish Gary's gas tank. $22.

Did I mention we missed 24 for this?

If anyone wants this guy's name, phone number, e-mail address, and physical address, we're happy to give them out.
