On Sunday morning I went to help the RS presidency with visiting teaching interviews at the RS president's house. Our RS president is an awesome(ly attractive) woman who definitely does NOT look old enough to be a grandmother (all the younger men in the ward love her), but she does have one precious little 2 year old granddaughter, Mara*.
We have quite a few older women in their early to late 80s in the ward. Bea* is one of them. Her husband escorted her to her interview Sunday morning and we helped her to the couch. She was sitting quietly waiting for her turn when little Mara wandered in. When she saw Bea her eyes lit up. "Grandma!" She cried. She went directly to Bea and started giving her hugs and telling her how pretty she was. To put this in perspective, Mara has never met Bea in her life. She just knew that Bea was a grandma. It didn't matter to Mara whose grandma Bea was, it just mattered that she was a grandma. Mara continued to babble at Bea, calling her grandma, giving her hugs, telling her she was pretty and that she loved her until Mara's mom came and collected her for a Sunday morning walk. The rest of the women in the room were just giggling at how precious Mara was and Bea was just glowing.
If that's not heartwarming, I don't know what is.
*names changed because I feel weird putting people's names on the internet who have not given their consent. Especially when I don't even really know them
